How to fix out-of-sync subtitles
If your subtitles appear consistently earlier or later than the dialogue, a uniform time shift fixes it:
- Open your video and note how many seconds the subtitles are off (e.g. dialogue at 1:05 appears at 1:08 → subtitles are 3 seconds late)
- If subtitles appear too early, shift them later by that amount
- If subtitles appear too late, shift them earlier
- Apply the shift, download, and check again — iterate with smaller values if needed
What if the drift gets worse over time?
A constant offset that grows over the video means a frame-rate mismatch (e.g. 23.976 fps subtitle file on 25 fps video). A uniform shift can't fix that — you need a linear rescale. We're building a dedicated resync tool; for now, a uniform shift plus small manual corrections can get you close.
Formats supported
- SRT — detected and preserved as SRT
- VTT — detected and preserved as VTT
- Timestamps are clamped at zero, so shifting earlier never produces negative times
